We asked the people of Instagram for their votes, and voted they did! We wanted to know which comic from our entire lineup they wanted for Free Comic Book Day, and the winning book was Drahcir’s Slaughter #1! Thank you to everyone who voted and to all who are interested in the Alternity side of comics.
Here’s the PDF of Drahcir’s Slaughter #1:

(Author’s Note from C. Zandro)
The entire plot of Drahcir’s Slaughter actually came from a Dungeons & Dragons game. Incog, Ryan the Revolver(who wasn’t named Ryan at the time), Golden Gladiator, and yes, even Wilsonhog, all spawned from the same campaign.
From time to time, people ask me how I make comics. I suppose I make comics incorrectly. I only have a rough outline for how the whole story will go. For each issue (I’m currently wrapping up issue three), I write a paragraph about what I want to happen. Then I sketch in a notebook to map out the story.
After I finish drawing the book, I circle back and write the dialogue. This impulsive storytelling is just like your average Dungeons & Dragons game. As an artist, it’s impossible to craft the narrative without hearing the voices and understanding the thoughts of the characters you’re creating. (Roken #1 and #2 were made the same way.)
But I think I’ll make Drahcir’s Slaughter even more special by keeping it the only book written this way. It’s spontaneous, and I never know exactly what’s going to happen next. Narratively, this makes continuity harder to maintain. Drahcir’s Slaughter is driven toward a simple end goal: slaughtering Drahcir. But Roken and the rest of my books are meant to carry a definitive message, which this loose style of writing doesn’t always support. If you find yourself enjoying Drahcir’s Slaughter we have a few other books in our line up. I personally recommend the best companion piece would be Roken #1.
Until next time, Alternians… Alterknights… (Next poll is on what to call readers of Alternity Comics.)
Until we meet again, fellow comic fans.
