Here we are again or have we done this before? This is the first news post of Alternity Comics, but Alternity’s been around for nearly five years! It was once called Theme Attics Comics. Now, I’m guessing most of you out there don’t know what a “Theme Attics Comics” is, and that’s fine. Theme Attics Comics was my first venture into creating comics. I wanted to build a stage for fantasy stories, westerns, and space operas. TAC started strong in 2019. We accomplished a lot! I think I’m most proud of Drahcir’s Slaughter finding its way into 15 countries, and we made a total of... Well, you get the idea.

But over time, the excitement waned, and the hundreds of people who’d regularly check out my work dwindled to just a few dozen. New projects were announced, but platforms like Instagram and Facebook just stopped showing our posts to new people. By the four-year mark, it was clear that something had to change.

Theme Attics Comics was a name I cooked up back in high school. I had this wild dream of turning that oddball name into a household staple. But every time I told someone the name, I’d get so many puzzled looks that even a blind man could see it wasn’t working. Enter: Alternity Comics. So, where did the name "Alternity Comics" come from? Well, sort of from DC Comics.

I would buy comics as a kid, but I didn’t become a regular buyer until Multiversity by Grant Morrison and company hit the shelves. I wanted to capture that multiverse name in my comic company name. I toyed with “Multiverse Comics,” which, surprise, was already taken, before landing on Theme Attics Comics. Fast forward a few years, and I stumbled back across my old comic notes, did some Googling, and found that “Alternity” is actually a synonym for “Multiverse.” And here we are! Sure, “Alternity” isn’t a word you can throw around willy-nilly and have everyone understand right away, but I’ll bet you a $100 that saying “AlternityComics.com” will get a lot fewer confused looks than “ThemeAtticsComics.com.”

I’ve got some great stuff cooking up for you future Alternity… Addicts? We’ll work on that name together. For now, the focus is on a short run of three titles, all collected in Alternity Magazine. Those titles are: Roken, Drahcir’s Slaughter and The Elf Cracker. Each one’s has its own unique flavor—let’s dive in!

Roken has lived a life of tribulation and has found the source of his pain, the Storyteller. The storyteller is in charge of writing the lives of everyone, but Roken refuses to live his destiny any further. Roken and his brother, Arthur, are now on a quest to find this Storyteller and take control of their own destiny.

Elf Crackers are the elite of Santa’s elves. They hunt troublesome elves who put the good name of Santa and the spirit of Christmas in jeopardy. Vix Velix has been tasked to figure out who has been abducting the naughtiest children on Santa’s list.

Drahcir is an evil wizard who stole a kingdom. He was led by his fears of an imminent invasion, and sees the only answer is raising an army for his warpath. Drahcir has wronged many, causing an Off-Fit Fellowship to be formed. No matter the cost, these outcasts will get their revenge.

Alternity Magazine is an ambitious comic anthology. It’s a lot of work, especially since this is primarily a one-man operation. And what’s crazier? I’m planning to release this magazine quarterly! (Alternity Magazine #1 is set to hit the stands on October 30th. Future issues will follow in January, April, July, and so on.) Spread the word! Tell your friends, your parents, your neighbors, anyone who loves comics or doesn’t know they love comics yet, that there’s a new comic company rising, and they can be among the first to check it out.
